Maria Machado luthier

With a restless mind and a perfectionist spirit, María has travelled a path of constant learning, exploring the construction of instruments ranging from guitars and violins to basses and charangos. In 2015, she earned the title of Maestra Técnica Luthier from the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, an achievement that reinforced her commitment to excellence in luthiery. Her career took an important leap in 2016, when she travelled to Cremona, Italy, the birthplace of luthiery, to specialise in the construction of baroque violins and violas at the Instituto de Instruccion Superior Antonio Stradivari. Under the guidance of masters such as Giorgio Scolari and Massimo Negroni, she consolidated her technical mastery, but also absorbed the deep respect for traditional craftsmanship that defines the great makers. Over the years, Maria has continued to perfect her technique, creating violins and violas that stand out for their precision and beauty. Upon her return to Argentina, she established herself as one of the most promising luthiers in the field of classical and baroque instruments, remaining true to her artisanal approach. In 2023 Maria returns to Europe with only one goal, to grow in classical lutherie and to reach many more places in the world with her instruments. From the city of Cremona in Italy she collaborates with great colleagues and teaches in her personal workshop. In 2024 she moved to Valencia, Spain and in parallel to her work as a builder, Maria is part of the team of Maderas Barber, where she contributes her experience in the selection of woods for lutherie and organizes specialized workshops. This role complements her career, allowing her to expand her knowledge and collaborate with other greats in the industry, without neglecting her true passion: the creation of top of the line stringed instruments.
